Making a Difference & Enriching Lives
The Sabes Foundation is committed to developing our community through charitable giving and events.
After a 3 million dollar gift to a new building for the Jewish Community Center of Minneapolis, the Sabes Foundation has continued to fund its center for the Arts & Humanities with annual gifts over $100,000 as well as multiple additional gifts of mid 6 figures to reintroduce the Jewish Film Festival that had been dormant for many years.
Over 10 years ago, the Sabes Foundation was approached by Renee Pulley of the Howard Pulley AAU Basketball Programs which provides athletic and leadership opportunities in inner-city as well as suburban youth to become a sponsor. The foundation provided annual gifts of high 6 figures to sponsor a nationwide tournament held annually in our community. This tournament has become a top nationally recognized AAU venue and teams from all over the country participate. Also, the tournament was given its start and supported by the Sabes Foundation for 10 years.
The Sabes Foundation was also one of the founding contributors and board members of the Minnesota Minority Golf Associations providing inner-city youth with opportunities to learn and participate in golf. The foundation contributed mid 6 figures to this organization led by Attorney F. Clayton Tyler.
The Sabes Foundation has actively supported medical research sponsoring a Stanford Medical School Orthopedic research project that won two awards and a University of Florida research project that is ongoing. Medical research has been a strong focus for the Sabes Foundation. Also, it has been a supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Association for many years.
